Urban Resilience

About: The Indian cities are increasingly vulnerable to disasters, climate change, rapid urbanization, and socio-economic pressures. The compounding effects of climate change, extreme weather events and rapid population growth exacerbate these challenges. To mitigate these risks, promoting urban resilience is crucial for sustainable development, reducing vulnerability and protecting human lives and infrastructure.

To address this critical issue, the NIDM under the grant agreement with GIZ, has established the Knowledge Platform on Urban Resilience. This platform serves as a centralized hub for stakeholders including government officials, professionals, researchers, academicians, and practitioners from state governments, international organizations, academia, city administrations, private sectors, and NGOs. The platform facilitates the sharing of best practices and highlights successful interventions that have strengthened disaster resilience in diverse urban settings.
